Fall is in the air

I can't wait for the cool, crisp breeze of autumn; for our trips through the canyons to enjoy the beautiful view and the contrast of the blue spruce pines with the rest of the trees turning yellow, orange and red.

We like to gather red leaves and put them between a book to dry, then we can use them to decorate the house and for crafts.

(Back to reality, it's still in the upper nineties outside)

This is a table that I got some weeks ago
I like it because you can remove the legs and save space if you have a craft show, etc.

But I didn't like the look of the cheap material (plus I stained it watering my violet)
I bought a couple of yards of burlap and covered the top

Then I just hot glued the burlap around it

There you have it, no sewing required, instant new look.

Now let's get back to fall ....
I was so in the fall mood that I even baked butter and cream scones, yes baking and with 98 temperature outside, I must be crazy.
But I start decorating for fall on September 1st no matter what

What about you?
Are you ready for fall yet?

A "french" chair

Remember my "french" chair? I posted pictures when I found it at a thrift store

Last week I had time to paint it and re-do her seat

Painting on burlap is very hard, I wanted a different design, but I opted for this fleur de lis from The Graphics Fairy    You can see clearly that the words aren't straight, it's because of the burlap moving up and down while I was painting.

I didn't make a cushion and left her back bare, I really like the caning and her silhouette.

The painting treatment was very simple, no Annie Sloan Chalk Paint here (can't find it locally)

I just used some white semi gloss paint, added some navy blue paint to make a light blue

Brushed some white paint here and there

After it dried, I gave her some good sanding

Applied a coat of Minwax walnut stain and let it dry a little before rubbing it off

I was surprised to see the difference the stain made, before I applied it, the paint was a very light blue.

I'm very happy with the results, even my husband liked it, I told him I would sell it to him for $50 lol! but he wanted to pay me $15, I told him that wasn't enough and I will keep my chair.

I have a little round table that I want to dress up for this chair, I will show it to you as soon as it's ready.

Finally something finished & a winner!

I found this stool last week, wich I wanted to use in my bathroom, unfortunately it turned out too big for the space.

It was a mustardy color which I hated since the beginning, I sanded it down but couldn't get all the finish off.

I tried staining it with a very dark brown, but still you could see the mustard

I took it inside after staining it, still didn't like the look,

I had the idea of randomly brushing some white paint on it

What do you think?
