I found this urn some weeks ago, it was love at first sight.
I just wasn't sure about all that gold, so I just took some white paint, and transformed it, what do you think, much better?

You transformed the urn into a lovely one. Cheers to you for seeing past that ugly gold!
ReplyDeleteIf you want to be able to appreciate the carvings even more, take some brown acrylic paint, add at least 4-5 times more water than the paint and do a tiny test area near the bottom where you won't see too much if you don't like it. BEFORE you put the glaze on, have on hand a DAMP cloth (terry towel or cotton rag). Brush on the glaze into the details really well and then immediately wipe it off, leaving the amount of brown paint in the crevices that you like. You may even need to add more water to the glaze if it is too dark. Or if you don't like it at all, just wipe off the test area.
Go Ido!

The garden urn looks so much better in white, although I must say, I have taken some inexpensive urns from Walmart and spray painted them glossy black and you would not know they were not cast iron, and the plants really stand out against the black.
